Electrical
EV Charger Installation in Southeastern Massachusetts
A Level 2 home EV charger is the single biggest quality-of-life upgrade for anyone driving electric. Instead of trickling along on a standard wall outlet, a Level 2 charger runs on a dedicated 240-volt circuit — the same kind of power that feeds your electric range or dryer — and adds roughly four to seven times the range per hour. For most drivers that means plugging in overnight and waking up to a full battery, every day, without ever thinking about it.
Quality Home Heating & Air installs Level 2 EV chargers across the South Shore and South Coast, and we treat it as a proper electrical project, not a quick hookup. Every installation starts with a look at your electrical panel and a real capacity check — an EV charger is one of the largest continuous loads in a modern home, and putting it in correctly means confirming your panel and service can carry it before anything goes on the wall.
We run a new dedicated 240V circuit from your panel to the charger location, size the breaker and wire to the charger's amperage, and install everything to code with clean, professional routing. Whether you're charging in an attached garage, a detached garage, or on an exterior wall by the driveway, we'll make it look like it was always meant to be there — and we'll handle financing if you'd rather spread the cost over time.
Reasons to install a Level 2 charger
- You just bought (or are about to buy) a new EV or plug-in hybrid
- Charging on a standard wall outlet (Level 1) is painfully slow
- You want a full battery every morning without planning around it
- Your EV needs a dedicated 240V circuit it doesn't have yet
- You're not sure your electrical panel has the capacity for a charger
- You're tired of relying on public charging stations
- You're charging in a garage, carport, or driveway and need a clean install
- You're adding a second EV and need faster, dedicated charging
What causes these problems
There are two practical ways to charge at home. Level 1 uses the cord that comes with the car plugged into an ordinary 120V household outlet — it works, but it only adds a few miles of range per hour, which can take a full day or more to recover a daily commute. Level 2 uses a dedicated 240V circuit and a wall-mounted charger, delivering far more power and typically a full charge overnight. For anyone driving regularly, Level 2 is the difference between charging being a chore and charging being something you never think about.
The electrical side is what separates a safe, lasting install from a problem. A Level 2 charger is a continuous, high-amperage load — commonly 30, 40, or 48 amps — so it needs its own dedicated circuit, a correctly sized breaker, and wire rated for the load and the run. It can't share a circuit with anything else. That's why we run a new home run from the panel rather than tapping an existing circuit.
Capacity is the other piece. Older or already-full panels may not have a free breaker space or enough service amperage to add a large charger safely. Sometimes the answer is a simple subpanel or a load-management device; sometimes it's a panel or service upgrade. We check this up front so you know exactly what your home needs before we quote the job — no surprises mid-install.
How it works
Our process
- 1
In-home assessment
We review where you want to charge, your parking layout, and the run from the panel, and confirm the charger's amperage so we can size everything correctly.
- 2
Panel & capacity check
We evaluate your electrical panel and service to confirm there's room and enough capacity for a dedicated charger circuit — and flag a subpanel or panel upgrade only if it's genuinely needed.
- 3
Clear quote & options
You get upfront pricing with hardwired vs. plug-in options, charger amperage choices, and financing — no pressure and no vague estimates.
- 4
Dedicated 240V circuit
We run a new dedicated 240-volt circuit from your panel to the charger location with a properly sized breaker and wire for the load and the distance.
- 5
Charger mounting & hookup
We mount the charger securely at the right height, route conduit and wiring cleanly, and connect it hardwired or to a dedicated outlet as chosen.
- 6
Code-compliant install & testing
Everything is installed to code, then we energize the circuit, test the charger end-to-end with your vehicle, and verify it's drawing correctly.
- 7
Walkthrough & cleanup
We show you how the charger and any app work, answer your questions, and leave your garage or driveway cleaner than we found it.

“Kevin was great. He took the time with us to describe all options, and the pros and cons of each. His men did the job quickly and efficiently, leaving no trace other than the work they had done. It has only been a few days since they put in our system, but the difference from our old system is evident.”
